Well, you’ve probably seen by now the last post of the blog, with some pictures of Venice and a huuuuuge chronicle of the journey. I’m sorry, mates, but we don’t have time to translate the whole thing into English (it was hard enough to write it in Spanish!), so this special post for you will have to do, ok?

Saturday 12th. First day in Venice, quite foggy actually, but it gives the city a very romantic touch. We decide to go to Piazza San Marco and start one of our Lonely Planet’s «walking tour» around the neighbourhood of San Marco. Apart from Piazza San Marco, the Basilica di San Marco (fantastic!), its Campanile (bell tower, with nice views of the city), the Palazzo Ducale (beautiful) and the views from the Piazzeta San Mardo, with all the gondolas and stuff, we «got lost» in the streets of the sestiere di San Marco and walked hours and hours to get from Ponte dell’Accademia to Ponte di Rialto. Beautiful sestiere. Have a look at the pics in the previous post.

Sunday 13th. Second day in Venice, not as foggy as the previous day, but still not sunny. We go to Piazza San Marco to have a look at the famous Ponte dei Sospiri (the Bridge of Sighs), which was a bit disappointing actually (picture in the other post) and start a «walking tour» around the neighbourhood of Castello, so we start by walking by the Canale di San Marco and at the end of the sestiere (where Giardini Pubblici are), we get really into the neighbourhood. Some more pictures:

Walking by the Canale di San Marco, huge views!

This is the end of our «walking tour», the Campo di SS Giovanni e Paolo.

And this picture is from the private dock or our hotel (a real palazzo!), right into the Canale Grande.

Monday 14th. Third day in Venice, and it’s so sunny! We decide to go to Piazza San Marco and take some more pictures with this lovely weather. Then, we took a vaporeto to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. Murano is an island famous for it’s glass; Burano is famous for its colored houses and its lace industry; and Torcello is famous for its church.

Look, from the Piazzeta San Marco, beautiful!

This one is taken while waiting the vaporeto that would take us to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. Beautiful, isn’t it? Precioso, no?

And two more pictures of the lovely island of Burano, with its colored houses.

Wednesday 16th. We decide to take a train and go to Padua (or Padova, in Italian). Lovely city, with a nice city centre and an impressive church devoted to St Anthony. Amazing.

Thursday 17th. We take another train, this time to the city of Verona, well known by the Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet. They may have been fictional, but in the city you can find Juliet’s house (and her balcony!) and even her tomb… Apart from that, the city is lovely, with a fantastic Roman theatre and lots of houses with frescoes in the facades.

Firday 18th. Last complete day in Venice, so we decide to follow another «walking tour» around one of the best neighbourhoods of Venice: Cannaregio. Some pictures of the area. Algunas fotos del área:

And after the looooong loooooong walk, we go to Piazza San Marco, to take some more pictures of the area, which is lovely.
